Now and then we come across pieces that have been faded by sunlight, that need a little freshen up. Here at Art Home Company we have repaired several posters and prints with glazes of color to bring back the original look of the artwork.
Art Home Company specializes in framing and displaying unique items that are hard to frame. Our “local frame shop” loves the opportunity to be creative. Bring in that hard to frame item and let us show you what we can do!
This Peruvian Artwork was made using a 1/4″ wood board, the beads were pressed on warm wax to create the pattern. Some repairs were made before framing and because the entire back of the board had a hand written story in Spanish I did not adhere a backing to it, instead I created a pool of mat-board where the entire piece fell into safely keeping the bead work from being pressed against the glass. We always make sure the work is framed safely and undisturbed.
Iconography, as a branch of art history, studies the identification, description, and the interpretation of the content of images: the subjects depicted, the particular compositions and details used to do so, and other elements that are distinct from artistic style. The word iconography comes from the Greek εἰκών (“image”) and γράφειν (“to write”).
A secondary meaning (based on a non-standard translation of the Greek and Russian equivalent terms) is the production of religious images, called “icons”, in the Byzantine and Orthodox Christian tradition.
The frame used here is from Fotiou with an added sienna wash. The perfect fit for these pieces.
